Thomas L. Kalm, Esq.
Tom has been a licensed attorney in New Mexico since April 20, 1979 after receiving his juris doctorate from the University of New Mexico School of Law in December of 1978 and is B.A. from the University of Arizona in 1976. Tom graduated from Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque in 1969. The Kalm family was a farming and ranching family in Union County since homesteading around 1912 in Sedan, New Mexico. The Dust Bowl made Albuquerque home during World War II. Tom was born in Albuquerque and worked with his father and grandfather at Kalm Construction as a laborer and carpenter before and during college. Tom and his wife Renee' have been together since 1979 and were married in 1981. Together they have four children: Charles, Katrina, Karl, and Cory. All four Kalm children graduated from UNM School of Law in Albuquerque and are licensed attorneys. Tom has litigated a variety of contract and tort cases over the years, as well as examining real estate titles, drafting deeds, wills, business sale and organization documents.

Charles is a licensed New Mexico attorney, accepted into the New Mexico bar by motion of his father, Thomas L. Kalm, Esq. on September 21, 2010. Charles has been trying bench and jury trials since the second week following his admission to the State Bar of New Mexico.
Charles is a fifth generation New Mexican, born in Union County, New Mexico. Charles graduated from Sandia High School and moved to Berlin, Germany, to study at Sophie-Scholl-Gesamtschule the city’s leading comprehensive college preparatory academy. Charles is a graduate to the University of New Mexico (UNM) earning a dual bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and foreign languages. Charles graduated summa cum laude with departmental honors from both the Philosophy and Foreign Languages and Literatures departments and was awarded General University Honors with distinction in International Studies. After graduating Charles spent a year living in Quito, Ecuador, working for the United Nations and attending philosophy and sociology lectures at the nation’s top Jesuit University, PUCE. While attending law school, Charles helped develop curriculum and was the lead-presenter for the UNM School of Law Financial Literacy Program. After his first year, Charles was awarded a scholarship to attend the Summer Law Institute in Guanajuato, Mexico, at Mexico’s premier law school. Charles graduated law school with Dean’s Honors in May of 2010. After taking the New Mexico Bar Exam, he worked in Buenos Aires, Argentina with a law firm.
In addition to his law practice, Charles Kalm is a part-time adjunct lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at UNM, where he teaches Reasoning and Critical Thinking and the Philosophy of Law. Charles enjoys traveling, reading, conversation, coffee, philosophy, and the outdoors: running, hiking, biking, surfing, skiing and snowboarding. Charles has litigated a variety of civil and criminal cases, as well as estate planning, administrative and employment matters.
